Aquarium Blog

Well, as per usual, Christmas Shopping has taken up a chunk of my time.  I’ve managed to keep on top of the aquarium, but not had muc time to post on here and update the pages etc.

Hopefully over Christmas I shall have the od spare hour here and there to make some progress with the description pages.   The cam is holding up really well so far and doesn’t need resetting very often.   I’m working on the night vision aspect a little more, but alas time is short.  I need to get my red LED night lighting back up and running before night vision works correctly.

Other than that, no real news.  Fish are fine, water & plants are fine.   Good stuff.

Oops! 

The cam went down today whilst I was at work.  It’s partly my fault as I logged in to reboot it and accidentaly killed it.   It was working - sort of, but displaying random colours and screen flashes.   So I logged in to reboot it and after that it never came back on!

Anyway, should all be up and running again now.

First things first, thanks to everyone that voted for my aquarium.   I managed to reach position two at one point, but the scores kept going up and down over the last few days.  The net result is that I finished in third place, which I am very pleased with.   Here’s a link to my page:   http://www.ratemyfishtank.com/friendemail.php/13024

As of the 13th Dec 2007, I am in third.  I dare say I may drop in due time, but it was an exciting time and I really hoped for number one - guess I need a little more work on my aquarium.   I shall return, victorious, one day!

Anyway, the second part of this post it just to let you know that my Fishcam is up and running!   There’s a link on the right which will take you directly to the fishcam.  It’s up most of the time, except maybe when I am moving things around.   I am currently having issues with reflections, but this only appears to happen in the morinings.  

Nightvision mode isn’t enabled at the moment as I need to add more red night lighting to the aquarium for it to be effective.  I’ll let you know what this is working correctly.

Well what can I say - I have now reached No. 7 Worldwide and No. 3 this month.  People seem to like my aquarium and I can’t thank them enough for voting.  Cheers!

Other than that, nothing worth mentioning about the aquarium.  The filter needs a new polypad this evening.  I was going to try and leave it until tomorrow and do it with the water change and quick-clear pad change, but I don’t think it’s going to last.

I entered my Aquarium on www.ratemyfishtank.com and I am in shock at how well it’s doing!

It’s been on there for a couple of weeks and people have been voting on it during that period.  Within a few days it soared to number 30 in the worldwide chart.   Then 22, 15, 13, 12 and this morning 8!

Even more of a shock was when I checked out the monthly stats and I am number 4!

I haven’t even posted a picture on here yet - so I will do that right now so anyone that finds this blog can see too.

So I finally got around to doing this. 

There’s not much here yet and each page needs writing, but hopefully in the near future there will be a detailed description of all aspects of my aquarium as well as daily updates.

Fishcam is down the for moment - due to the fact I have run out of sockets to run it’s power!   Seriously that’s true, it’s all down the christmas decorations.
